2007 Missouri Grade State Championship

Where: University of Missouri at Memorial Union.

 

Directions: For driving directions, local hotels, parking lot and food locations, please visit the university website at http://www.missouri.edu .  Click on the visitors tab.  Parking is free on the weekends.

 

Sections:  13 Sections – Each Grade Level is a Section. Players only play in against players from the same grade. A Missouri State Individual and Team Champion for each grade will be crowned! The tournament is NOT USCF rated.

 

Registration: 8:00AM – 9:00 AM 

 

Rounds and Time Control: K-12 Grades – The five rounds are 30 minutes per player, also known as GAME 30.

 

Round Times: 1st Round - 10:15/2nd Round - 11:30AM/3rd   Round - 1:30 /4th Round - 2:45/5th Round - 4:00 PM 

       

Free Parking: University Avenue Garage is the best place for everyone to park. The garage is

located on University Avenue between Hitt Street and College Avenue. There is no charge for weekend parking.

 
Lunch: 12:30 -1:15 Rollins Dining Hall has an unlimited lunch menu at $7.00 per person and it is an easy walk from
Memorial Union.   
 
Brady Commons is south on Hitt Street and slightly west (across from the AG building.) McDonalds is right next to the Student Success Center.  Here's a new website. http://food.missouri.edu/map.php   
 
Brady Commons is open 10:00 - 3:00 p.m. on Saturdays. Downstairs of Brady Commons is Subway – 
it is open 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 a.m. Rollins is open for breakfast 8:00 - 10:30; lunch 10:30 - 2:15; does not serve dinner.
Plaza 900 is open for lunch 11:00 - 2:15; dinner 4:30 - 7:30.
 

Award Ceremony: Approximately 5:30

 

Entry Fee:

$15.00 per player if postmarked by October 1st, 2007 

$20.00 per player (Pre-registered) if postmarked by October 19th, 2007   

$25.00  (On Site.)  Make checks out to Kenneth Fee.

 

Ratings: The tournament is NOT USCF rated. However, USCF ratings will be used for pairing purposes. Go to www.uschess.org for membership and rating information! If you do not have an USCF or Local Rating, we will assign you a rating based on your grade: 5th grade 500, 8th Grade 800 etc.

Plaques and Medals: First place plaques for the Missouri State Champion in each of the thirteen grade levels will be awarded. In addition, medals will be awarded to 2nd –10th place in each of the thirteen grade levels. Every player receives a participation ribbon! First Place Team Plaques for each grade (three players per team with a two player minimum) We will use USCF Tiebreaks for individual and team awards. Players and teams tied for first place will be considered Missouri State Co-Champions. Out-of-State Players are welcome and play for book prizes.
